- The Doctor must be in good standing from the year of graduation till date.
- The doctor must fill in the name of the organization and their correct official address on the application form.NOT THEIR HOUSE ADDRESS
Steps for Online Application
- Create a profile on the portal.
- Login with your details (Folio Number/Email and Password) at www.portal.mdcn.gov.ng
- On the dashboard, click on my application then new application you should see certificate of good standing click on it.
- Update your records.
- Proceed to make payment via the portal.
Pending Verification Of Certificate Of Good Standing With Mdcn After Making Payment
The MDCN Certificate of good standing is processed within 10 to 14 working days. If you haven’t received it after 14 days, you should contact the MDCN.

Where To Collect The MDCN Certificate Of Good Standing?
Medical doctors can collect their MDCN Certificate of Good Standing via postage companies. MDCN will charge you for postage fee during your application for the COGS.

Uses Of MDCN Certificate Of Good Standing
Medical doctors worldwide need a certificate of good standing when they want to practice in another country that is different from their country of medical training or country of practice.
For instance, if you are a medical doctor and wants to practice in the UK, the GMC would require you to submit a Certificate of Good Standing from your country of practice.
Also, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria requires foreign trained medical graduates of Medicine and Dentistry who wants to write the MDCN Assessment Examination and wants to practice in Nigeria to have a Certificate of Good Standing from their country of training.
When Can I Submit My Certificate Of Good Standing To The GMC?
You can submit your certificate of good Standing to the GMC after passing Plab 2 exam. However, you shouldn’t delay in submitting it.
Will MDCN Submit My Certificate Of Good Standing To The GMC?
Yes, the MDCN will send a copy of your certificate of good standing to the General Medical Council of UK upon request. The MDCN will also give you a copy of yours.
How Much Is The Certificate Of Good Standing?
