NOTICE ON 2026 MDCN’S SCHEDULED PROGRAMMES/ACTIVITIES FOR
FOREIGN TRAINED MEDICAL AND DENTAL GRADUATES
The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) hereby informs all foreign trained medical
and dental graduates that the Council’s programmes and activities for 2026 have been scheduled
as follows:

Application for the June 2026 Examination commences immediately with this public notice.
A. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
i. The examination shall be for candidates trained in ALL Countries (other than Nigeria)
whose training institutions are currently listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools
(www.wdoms.org); and for Nigeria-trained doctors that either failed to complete their
internship within twenty-four months of graduation or those whose medical/dental
schools have lost their accreditation.
ii. Candidates must hold medical/dental degrees of approved medical and dental training
institutions which shall be verified by the MDCN through global verification process.
iii. Candidates must show evidence of eligibility to practise medicine/dentistry in their
countries of training. A current practising licence and a Certificate of Good Standing
from the country’s medical/dental regulatory authority (not from the Training Institution)
shall be required.
B. EXAMINATION FORMAT:
i. Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) covering
all aspects of Basic and Clinical Sciences in Medicine and Dentistry.
ii. Clinical Examinations comprising Long and Short Cases or Objectives Structured
Clinical Examination (OSCE).
iii. Practical/Clinical Examinations in Restorative Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Child Dental
Health (for Dental candidates only).
iv. English Language paper for non-English speaking graduates from medical/dental schools
whose language of instruction is not English.
C. EXAMINATION FEES
1. Nigerian Candidates – N 250,000.00
2. Non-Nigerian Candidates – N 400,000.00
3. Other charges (Dental materials for
dental candidates only) – N50,000.00
Applicants are advised to ensure that they meet all eligibility requirements before making
payment, as examination fees once paid are non-refundable and non-transferable
D. ONLINE APPLICATION FORMS/REGISTRATION/PAYMENT
Applicants are to register by completing online forms and make payment through:

E. REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS
The following documents are to be uploaded on the portal:
i. Stamped verification (EPIC or Dataflow)

ii. Evidence of payment of required fees to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
iii. Relevant academic qualifications:
1. GCE/SSCE/NECO (Five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics,
Chemistry and Biology at not more than two sittings)
2. Medical/dental degree certificates (Statement of results are not acceptable)
iv. Relevant portions of International Passport (Visa and Arrival & Departure stamped
pages).
v. Colour passport-size photographs.
vi. Birth certificate or statutory declaration of age.
vii. Current practising licence/evidence of eligibility to practise medicine/dentistry in the
Country of training, issued by the Medical/Dental Regulatory Authority (MRA) in that
country.
viii. Closing date for submission is 28th April 2026 for the June Exam.
Candidates are also required to upload their Certificate of Good Standing from the study
country’s Medical/Dental Regulatory Authority.
NOTES:
i. Medical/Dental students without medical/dental degree certificate need not apply
ii. Candidates mandated to undergo remediation must complete the programme and
apply for the October 2026 Examination
iii. Medical Candidates are required to bring their individual Stethoscope, Diagnostic set,
Patella Hammer and Tape Rule.
iv. Dental Candidates are required to bring their individual Mouth mirror, Probes,
Tweezers etc.
v. Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ) certificate verification before the exams is
mandatory; only verified candidates will be admitted.
vi. CBT venue details will be communicated before the examination.
