President Bola Tinubu (GCFR) has approved the appointment of Prof. John Okeniyi as Chief Medical Director of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife Osun State, for an initial term of four (4) years with effect from 24 August 2023.
Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Daju Kachollom mni who presented the letter on behalf of the Coordinating Minister of Health, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, reminded him of the heavy responsibility of the office and the yearnings of the Nigerian people for effective and responsive healthcare delivery system.
“It is expected that you will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure that the Hospital continues to deliver quality health care services to our people”.
Prof. Okeniyi in his response thanked the Federal Government for finding him worthy to serve and pledged to be upright and diligent in carrying out his new assignment in line with the renewed hope agenda of this administration.
He emphasized the need for all hands to be on deck to support the Federal Government in its plan to revamp the health sector. “I promise that I will not disappoint Mr. President and the Ministry of Health. I will work in collaboration and harmony with all stakeholders, and look into the welfare of staff of the hospital. I will also do my best to ensure that the incessant internal crisis at the hospital will be brought to an end”.
